Okay Owingeh (formerly San Juan Pueblo)
P.O. Box 1099, San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico 87566 The San Juan Pueblo lies 25 miles north of Santa Fe on U.S. 84/285 and five miles north of Española off N.M. 68. Although the tribal lands are limited in size, the Pueblo does operate two small lakes (San Juan Lakes) carved out of old riverine oxbows adjacent to the Chama River. Fishing by permit is available year-round at San Juan Lakes. These lakes are approximately 6 and 8 surface acres in size and are periodically stocked with trophy rainbow trout. They are open only on weekends and the Pueblo sponsors several fish tournaments each year with cash awards to the winners. The Chama River bisects the Pueblo lands offering a very limited recreational fishery. There are some native fish issues primarily surrounding the endangered silvery minnow. The Pueblo currently receives some of its rainbow trout from the SWTFC.
